Fashion Facade

Day 3

The Pam Hogg show both helped to kill and fertilise the 'Rose tinted Vision'.

Fashionably late by nearly an hour, the anticipation for the show was tense. Indeed, it was matched with the tensity backstage, with yelling and screaming and last minute stitching. However, Pam Hogg never fails to impress. Hogg managed to to pull off the fashion facade perfectly, taking the audience into her Fantasy World of 'Dogs and Demons' a tribute to recently deceased Steve Strange showing off Strange's own fantastic attributes. The audience journeyed through the fashion woods with Little Red Riding Hood who opened the show. The woods eventually became darker, perhaps visual metaphor for the emotions unveiled with Strange's death, with dark leather and flames emerging. Nonetheless, it was still celebratory with killer heels and metallic leather.

If it wasn't for the facade of the collection, the fashion facade of the celebrities was enough to fertilise a 'rose tinted vision' with the likes of Noel Fielding, Tracy Emin, Stephen Jones and Nick Cave there to name a few. The show was a party with club kid duo Josh Quinton and Andy Brandon strutting down the catwalk, helping to keep hope in the 'rose tinted vision'.

Perception Questioning

Taking inspiration from the front Row, the show left me pondering about facades and perception, just as front row guest showed in her recent 'The last great adventure is you' exhibition - realising that it belongs in ones self not another at the end of finishing the work. Like in all things, perhaps it is only revealed at the end when we take a step back, take off the glasses and see the truth.
